We are seeking volunteer writers/video producers who are passionate gamers to review, write articles, rant about, and create videos about the latest console, PC, and mobile games. Read through the site for an idea of the kind of content we’d like you to produce and the tone of the pieces. Formal guidelines will be issued to volunteer contributors.

You can either be one-time contributor or a regular contributor. We ask that our regular contributors reliably create 3 to 4 entries (300+ words) per month (or more, but quality is emphasized over quantity), based on new or old games, industry news, industry trends, and industry opinions. Volunteers will work remotely, and all writers will have the chance to interact with us and each other through Google Groups and/or Skype.

This is not currently a paying gig, as the site currently does not generate enough revenue to cover its hosting fees. So please do not quit your day job. As for compensation, there’s the exposure you’ll gain from the site and your ability to leverage your contributions as a part of your writing portfolio. We will verify any contributor’s contribution to the site to any employer, and provide references: obviously the more work/higher quality of the work, the more positive the reference. For college/graduate students, you can contribute for the above compensation, or we will work with you to ensure you receive internship credit.

However, when this site’s revenue hits a certain target, it’s our intention to offer the best contributors regular paying gigs. The site’s goals and progress will be discussed with regular contributors on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:

Writers of all levels. If you are entry-level (as in someone lacking any/significant clips/publications), we do expect you to be able to write coherently, and at least run a spelling/grammar check over your work before you submit it.

For video reviews, please be able to submit complete, polished video files that can be uploaded to YouTube.

Knowledge of coding, HTML, or WordPress are completely unnecessary (as long as you can send a Word document to me via email), but are a plus if you have them.

Similarly, knowledge of graphic design, social media, or search engine marketing and/or optimization are completely unnecessary, but are a plus if you have them. Ideally, Hostile Gamer contributors will be socially media savvy to drive traffic from their networks to their contributions on our site.
