Modern Warfare 3 (2.5) isn’t that great

A great series spoiled by lack of passion

I got around to playing Modern Warfare 3 (or MW2.5 as I like to call it now) today after mostly everyone telling me that it was well worth it. My doubts about the games apparent “greatness” sprung up as soon as I reached the menu. I thought I had accidentally put my copy of Modern Warfare 2 into my PS3 due to the fact that the menu looks exactly the same as it did in Modern Warfare 2. You can select between Special Ops, Campaign and Multiplayer which is fine, but they could have at least thought up of a better way of presenting it than having exactly the same layout and an even more depressing dark green colour which is present throughout the whole menu. The Black Ops menu wasn’t that good either but at least Treyarch tried something different with the TV and little cheat machine in the corner.

A nice image I found on Facepunch which explains the campaign pretty well,

I wasn’t really looking forward to playing the campaign that much because WHO THE HELL BUYS COD FOR THE SINGLE PLAYER! GAWD! I jumped right into a multiplayer game in a map called ‘Resistance’ which is set in the cramped city streets of Paris. I grabbed the G36C from the default class and went to shoot up some baddies. I ran up a street, lobbed a grenade and managed to kill another playing when a car exploded, then proceeded up the street when I killed two other players then got killed by an airstrike. Not to shabby for my first play of MW2.5 eh?

But then I started thing about what makes this game different from Modern Warfare 2. And the fact is, there actually isn’t that much difference between the two except there are news maps, a small amount of new guns and perks along with a new single player campaign. Apart from those 3 things it feels like you’re playing a £45 map pack for MW2.

And I swear to god, if Activision releases a map pack every month with only 4 maps for £10 I’m going to do some serious complaining.

I’m right there with ya man these are getting close to being the same redundant crap that the Madden series has become, I’m glad i bought BF3 and not this $60 map pack. Kudos for speaking out against the CoD fanboys.

Why do we have to hate?
Come one we are all gamers and that is what we will be until we die. Once a gamer always a gamer. And people bashing on video games isn’t helping. Games are supposed to be a universal thing the thing that can unite us. Just because we like a certain game we are frowned down upon. We should be proud to be gamers and happy that there are gaming companies that make games for us to enjoy. Call of duty is not the only game that receives hate it is just the one that receives the most hate. We have to stop hating because before you know it games may not exist anymore and it will be all our fault for hating on a game we didn’t like. Lets just appreciate what we have if you don’t like COD play something else like Battlefield or Killzone. See that is the good thing about being a gamer you can play whatever you like. Please stop with the hating of games over the internet.

PS:If you don’t want to pay 60 for a game you think is a map pack, you do know there is something called used games where you can buy it and if you don;t like you can return it.

PS,PS: We are gamers and gamers we will be, whether through the kingdoms of Hyrule, through the streets of Pallet Town, through the tubes and pipes of the Mushroom Kingdom, from the waters of Vice City to the mountains of Pandora, or maybe through the deserts of Nuevo Paraiso, we saved the galaxy from the Covenant or the Reapers, stopped the zombie invasion in Willamette Colorado and destroyed that evil Umbrella Corporation. We have been to all these places and more but whether you were a soldier, a plumber, a Pokemon trainer, a mafia man, or a cowboy; do you want to know what we really were, GAMERS!

I told you that it was a map pack and that is true. Battlefield is better than this for many reasons. Modern warfare 2.5 was my idea Stuart just you took credit. Anyway BATTLEFIELD all the way guys don’t waste £40 on a map pack

P.S Modern Warfare 2.5 sucks, just campers, noobs and loads of little kids that think they are good.
